A look back at International
Tourism Week

For the third consecutive year, Excelia La Rochelle organised an International Tourism Week from 25th-27th September 2018, coinciding with the UNWTO World Tourism Day. The aim was to promote tourism for all and to understand the impact of digital transformation on tourism.

To open International Tourism Week, Excelia Tourism School, organised a sporting event on Tuesday 25th September 2018 called ‘Olympic Competition for All’ with members of the ADAPEI, an association of parents and friends of mentally handicapped people in Charente-Maritime.

On the Tuesday morning, a Sarbacane (blow pipe) workshop was organised with members of the ADAPEI association and students from Excelia Tourism School. In the afternoon, they all went on a boat trip together.

Focussing on the theme of the week, ‘digital transformation and its impact on tourism’, Excelia Tourism School had the honour of welcoming industry experts who spoke at the various conferences.

Excelia Tourism School and CIPECMA jointly celebrated the World Tourism Organization’s ‘World Tourism Day’. On Thursday 27th September, Luc Beal, Director of the Tourism Management Institute and Head of the MSc in Destination Management, led a conference on ‘Digital innovation and digital technology for a healthy hotel and flourishing destinations’.
