Can you tell us about your experiences?
In Helsinki, I lived in a student residence (with a sauna!), just 20 minutes by train from the city centre. At the beginning of the semester, I visited Porvoo with my roommate and during the semester, with a group of friends, I had the opportunity to visit a number of other places including Tallinn (Estonia), Riga (Latvia), Stockholm (Sweden), Koli National Park (Finland) and Lapland. My semester in Finland was brilliant, very rewarding, I have some excellent memories of my time there. I learnt more about the Finnish education system, and their way of life… complete with saunas and cold weather! And I even met Father Christmas on my trip to Lapland! All the experiences in this country were amazing and unforgettable!
As an American, my semester in the United States was no great surprise because I already knew the country quite well… or at least a good part of it. However, I made the most of my time there to discover other cities that I had never visited before such as Chicago and Boston, and I also went to Cape Cod, and travelled around the state of Rhode Island.

What do you think of international experiences?
I think that international experiences are very valuable not only for you as an individual but also in terms of your future career. You learn a lot about yourself, what you want, what you like and what you dislike. You also have the opportunity to discover new cultures and explore new cities. Ever since my academic expatriation in Finland, I’ve been keen on going back there because I’m fascinated by this country and its culture.

The programme is very varied, the courses are interesting and there are many lessons taught in English. What made me want to join the school and this programme in particular was the variety of different experiences offered.
