What are the admissions requirements for this Bachelor specialising in tourism?

To join Year 1 of our Bachelor in tourism, you need to have a High School qualification (or international equivalent) and successfully pass our entrance test, which includes a formal application and a motivation interview. You can also join the programme directly in Year 2 or Year 3 if you have already validated one or two years of higher education respectively. We are looking for students who are highly motivated, curious, and have a passion for tourism.

Are there any opportunities to go abroad?

Yes! Excelia actively encourages international mobility! Starting in Year 1, you will carry out a 3-month internship in the country and company of your choice, and we will help you to find the most appropriate one! Then, in Year 2, you will spend a semester abroad at the partner university of your choice. Finally, in Year 3, you can choose whether to do your end-of-studies internship in France or abroad. French Track: 80% of the teaching in French, 20% in English
English Track: 100% English (a certain level of English is required for this track)
2nd Modern Language: German, Spanish or Italian
3rd Language (compulsory for students joining in Year 1): Choice of Portuguese, Chinese or Sign Language
TOEFL and TOEIC training

Assessment:

Three types of evaluation:

  • Continuous assessment: 40% of the final mark

Throughout the year, you will work on group or individual projects, which will be marked by your teachers.

  • End-of-semester exams: 60% of the final mark

These take the form of written exams.

  • Grand Oral

The oral exam is a presentation of your studies and your future studies or professional project.

Your teachers:

The teaching Faculty of the Bachelor in Tourism and Hospitality Management is made up of French and international research-active Faculty members as well as industry professionals.

The research-active Faculty, who specialise in tourism management, draw on the research work carried out within the framework of our Tourism Management Institute and our case study centre, known as INNOV Case Lab, thus offering students innovative pedagogy. The industry professionals who teach on the programme are recognised for their strong expertise within their field and focus on real business issues.

Your core course modules are taught with your entire Year Group. In addition, you will have tutorials in smaller groups, based on your chosen specialisation, language ability, etc.

The school has a partnership with Disney World Resort in Orlando, giving students the opportunity to study at Delaware University in the USA during 6 months, followed by a paid internship in one of the parks of the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

Students take part in Eductour, a discovery tour of local players in the tourism industry and other partners of Excelia Tourism School. The aim of this initiative is to introduce our students to companies, professions, and professionals in the tourism industry.

Academic Expatriation

Heading abroad on academic expatriation is a compulsory part of Year 2 of the programme. Students who choose the International Track in Year 3 will have the opportunity of repeating the experience.

Students in Year 1 and Year 2 of the Bachelor in Tourism & Hospitality Management work as volunteers, assisting the organisers throughout this week-long festival in La Rochelle. Year 3 students take part in an inter-school challenge which involves tackling the major issues facing the Tourism & Hospitality sector.

3rd Language

Further studies after a Bachelor in Tourism Management

Studying for a Master qualification after a Bachelor in Tourism Management

After your Bachelor in Tourism Management, you have the possibility of continuing your studies with a Master qualification, opening the door to a wide range of career opportunities. A postgraduate programme will enable you to develop your knowledge, acquire additional skills, and specialise in a specific area of tourism.

A Master programme in tourism management generally lasts for two years, divided into four semesters, and is equivalent to 5 years of higher education. To join a Master, you will need to have successfully completed at least 3 years of higher education, such as the Bachelor in Tourism Management.

The lessons may be theory-based or hands-on, with a strong emphasis on vocational experience. You can choose from a variety of specialisations to reflect your career plans. 

Which Master programmes are available after a Bachelor in Tourism Management at Excelia?

There are a number of options available to graduates holding a Bachelor qualification in tourism and who would like to pursue postgraduate studies.

As Excelia’s Bachelor is State-accredited and RNCP-certified, students who wish to do so can continue their studies at Master level to validate five years of higher education.

3 / Admissions test results released and deposit to be paid

Admissions test results

Candidates will receive notification of their admission or non-admission within 6 days following their interview.
If you are admitted, you must pay the deposit, which will be deducted from your annual tuition fees, before the specified deadline.

5 / Proof of academic level required

Conditions of acceptance

To confirm your final acceptance, you must provide proof of your current qualifications and language ability:

English-Track and French-Track Programmes:

  • Bachelor, Master, Masters of Science (MSc): B2*
  • Foundation and preparatory programmes**: A2 or B1 depending on programme*
  • For Summer School and FLE (French as a Foreign Language) courses: Open to students of all abilities

* Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
** Business Foundation Programme et Bachelor First Year


Proof of language ability is NOT required if:

  • Please note that only official certificates will be accepted.
  • You hold a qualification issued in a French-speaking country and are applying for a French track
  • You hold a qualification issued in an English-speaking country and are applying for an English track
